Jane Sturdivant Stephens, of Little Rock, died Monday, November 17,2008. Jane was born August 24, 1944, in Fort Worth, Texas, and grew up in Enid, Oklahoma. She has been a long time resident of Little Rock, following her attending Hendrix College and graduation form the University of Arkansas at little Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents, The Reverend Ben S. Sturdivant and Elizabeth Carlock Sturdivant. Jane is survived by her husband, David Stephens of Little Rock, and daughters, Elizabeth Claire Hirscheider and husband Carl of Memphis, Emily Mitchell Oury and husband Ted of Little Rock, Jana Whitten Owen and husband Donnie of Hot Springs Village, and Susan Whitten Gates and husband Mickey of Hot Springs, 10 grandchildren Amber, Courtney and Bailey Hirscheider; Olivia Anne Oury; David, Jeffery, Mark and Mitchell Owen; and Beth and Ben Gates 2 brothers Thomas C. Sturdivant and wife Deborah of Ft. Worth, Texas, James M. Sturdivant and wife Barbara of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jane was a loving wife mother and grandmother who was happiest surrounded by her family. There will be a memorial service 11:00 AM, Friday, November 21st at St. James United Methodist Church officiated by Reverend John Embry. Burial of ashes will follow in the church columbarium. There will be a reception following services at the church. Services are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society.
