*When Sherman Bittle was born on May 16, 1907, in Arkansas, his father, Joshua, was 39 and his mother, Emily, was 34. He married Willie Brown on September 25, 1939. He then married Helen Inez Nelson on July 30, 1943. He died on August 27, 1967, at the age of 60, and was buried in Searcy, Arkansas.
