Albert “Bert” E. Valley, 89, of Bella Vista, Arkansas died Saturday, April 30, 2016. He was born on April 17, 1927, in Gentilly, Minnesota to Albert Valley and Asma (Vaudrin) Valley.

He was raised and educated in Crookston, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Albert married Carol Jean Gaass on September 12, 1949, at the Cathedral in Crookston, Minnesota. He worked for the Minnesota Department of Transportation in Crookston and later in St. Paul, Minnesota. He retired after 33 years and moved to Bella Vista in 1987 from Prior Lake, Minnesota. He was a life member of the V.F.W. and a Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks in Bloomington, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean (January 19, 2016); parents, three brothers, and ten sisters. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held June 13, 2016 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, One St. Bernard Lane, Bella Vista, Arkansas, at 8:30 a.m. with a Rosary at 8:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernard's Compassion Group.

Carol Jean Valley, 88, of Bella Vista, Arkansas died January 19, 2016. She was born on September 4, 1927 in Crookston, Minnesota Harold Gaass and Alpah (Sjoberg) Gaass.

She was raised and educated in Crookston, Minnesota. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Carol married Albert Valley on September 12, 1949, at the Cathedral in Crooskton, Minnesota. She worked in several hospitals until retiring in 1985 and moved to Bella Vista in 1987 from Prior Lake, Minnesota.

She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and her step-mother, Fern Zutz.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Valley of Bella Vista, Arkansas; two sisters, Janet Engan of Palmer, Alaska, Sharla Foulkes of Fargo, North Dakota; two brothers, Marvin Zutz and wife, JoAnn of Red Lakes Falls, Minnesota, Daniel Zutz and wife LaRae of Fargo, North Dakota and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held in June of 2016 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, One St. Bernard Lane, Bella Vista, Arkansas. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Arkansas.

Burial is planned to be at the V.A. National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
