Patsy "Pat" Weaver of Magnolia, Arkansas was called home Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born on May 30, 1932 in Waterloo, Arkansas to the late Luther Weaver and Vida Polk Weaver. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Dr. Larry Weaver. Pat was an active member of Central Baptist Church most of her adult life.
Pat received her B.S. form Southern State College now SAU in 1954 and her Master in Education from the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville in 1957. She taught at Camden High School and then returned to Southern State College in 1962 as Dean of Women and Director of Student Activities. She was Alumni and Placement Director at SAU from 1978 until she retired in 1987. "Dean Weaver" received the SAU Distinguished Alumni Award in 1995.
She was always an educator and leader who worked tirelessly for teacher's concerns. She held numerous local and state offices in Delta Kappa Gamma and Arkansas Retired teachers Association. Ms. Weaver also served as president for Southwest Arkansas Genealogical Society and the SO-WE-AR Genealogical Society.
Pat is survived by her niece Tiffany Weaver Hayes and her children Trevor and Taylor Hayes who affectionately call her "Nana;" and a family of cousins and friends.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday, September 22, 2013 beginning at 1:30 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Central Baptist Church Sanctuary with Dr. Mike Seabaugh and Bro. Steve Ford officiating. Interment will be at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Memorials may be made to Southern Arkansas University Foundation, Central Baptist Church or Columbia County Animal Protection Society.
