Elisha Chester Monk, 88 yr., of McNeil, AR. passed away July 15th at Bailey Creek Health & Rehab. in Texarkana, AR.
He was born April 26, 1928 in McNeil, AR to Prentis Meadows and Rossie Hattie Jones-Monk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter; Elsa Marquis Monk, two brothers; David Monk & his twin Elijah Monk, two sisters; Rossie Ann Monk- McCravey and Elsa Monk-Johnson.
He completed his education in Chicago, IL, served God from a young age and continued as Sunday School Teacher until his health restricted him. He was an electrician and a retired employee with Southern Excursion in Magnolia, AR. Elisha believed “If you trust God as your Heavenly Father and God said Jesus Christ is coming back for you, Trust and Wait. Because God our Father is true to His Word.
He was a neighborhood community center, hosting Boy scouts as Scout Master, baseball league games on his property, pig roast, go carts, and more. Elisha was depended on by his family to “Fix It”, Jack-of-all-Trades.
Survivors include; two daughters; Mrs. Sue Toney of Milwaukee, Wi. and Mrs. Alisha Howell & husband Donald of Magnolia, AR. One son; Benjamin Monk of McNeil, AR. His siblings; Mrs. Ruby Pickens of Magnolia, AR., Frank Monk of Dallas, TX., Mrs. Minnie Mae Jackson, and Mrs. Hazel Brown of Carson, CA., Ellis Monk of Inkster, MI.
Homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, July 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. at R.L. Reed Funeral Home Chapel in Magnolia, AR., with burial to follow in the Old St. Matthew Cemetery in McNeil, AR. Under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, LLC of Magnolia, AR. Officiating will be Bro. Donald Howell. Visitation: Friday 11: a.m. till 5: p.m. at the funeral home.
***A special one-hour Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 6th from 10: to 11: a.m. at R.L. Reed Funeral Home Chapel in Magnolia, AR.***
