*When Roy Nicholson was born on February 9, 1902, in Higden, Arkansas, his father, James, was 29 and his mother, Mary, was 27. He married Vanna Lea Free and they had one daughter together. He then married Lillian Ray on July 2, 1932, in Craighead, Arkansas. He died on May 10, 1978, in Searcy, Arkansas, at the age of 76, and was buried there.
