SPRINGDALE — Carl Blazin, 88, of Springdale died Oct. 19, 2006, at Springdale. He was born Jan. 1, 1918, in Ellwood City, Pa., to Samuel and Angelina Sekulich. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and the Korean War and the Vietnam War, retiring as a sergeant major. He attended First United Methodist Church in Springdale and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and was an avid bird watcher.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Nelson Blazin of the home, to whom he was married Nov. 1, 1942; one son, Jay Blazin of Montville, Conn.; one daughter, Blazin of San Francisco; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements are by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale, online at www.backstrom-pyeatte.com.
A memorial service will be held later.
Memorials may be made in his name to a favorite charity.

SPRINGDALE — Betty Chloe Blazin, age 89, of Springdale died Tuesday, August 25, 2009, She was born November 18, 1919 in Belcher Community, Arkansas to William S. and Roseta J. (Hooper) Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Carl Blazin; three brothers, Russell, Woodrow, and Eldon Nelson; and one sister, Elsie Lee.
Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church in Springdale, AR and she enjoyed creating beautiful items with her hands, gardening and traveling. She was an avid bird-watcher and a proud homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Blazin of San Francisco, CA; one son, Jay Blazin and his wife Elizabeth of Montville, CT; two granddaughters, Sandy Bassett and Annette Beavin; five great-grandchildren, George Bassett, Tiffany Bassett, J.C. Beavin, Eric Beavin, William Beavin; and two great-great-grandchildren, Braydon Lowe and Leigh Beavin.
Memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M Friday, September 4, 2009 at Gardens at Arkanshire, 5000 Arkanshire Circle, Springdale, AR 72764 with Pastor David Freeman officiating.
