October 8, 1923 - August 27, 2021
Emma Jo Jones, age 97, of Malvern passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021. She was born on October 8, 1923, in Eagle Mills, AR the daughter of the late Robert Ivan and Willie Leese Blair James. Emma Jo loved God, her family and her friends. She was a member of Tabernacle of Praises Church. She was active in church, teaching many children God’s love in Sunday School, working with the prison ministry and donating time and financial help to many in need. When it became too painful for her to sit on the pews, her church family purchased her a lift chair so she could attend services. She was a devoted mother, raising a deaf son when there was not all the help and advantages offered today. Emma Jo was caring, funny and she took a wealth of knowledge with her. She will be missed by many.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Jones; son, Charles “Skipper” Garner; brothers, Robert James and Herbert James and sisters, Anita Lowry and Barbara Clements.
Survivors, daughter-in-law, Sharon Garner; step-daughters, Sandra “Tootie” Ross and Janet Cameron; granddaughter, Barbara Lundy of South Dakota and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 1 at 10:00am at Rockport Cemetery with Pastor Dorris Vernon Maupin and Pastor Gerald Michau officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Signs of Love Church for the Deaf, 1024 Malvern Avenue, Hot Springs, AR 71901.
