Oweta Staggs Stanbery, a resident of Searcy, died December 2, 2010. She was born on March 27, 1916, in Pangburn, to Dan and Lu Barnett Staggs. Oweta married Dallas Stanbery in 1975 who preceded her in death in 2010.
Mrs. Stanbery graduated from Searcy High School, received a BA degree from Harding College and a Masters degree from the University of Arkansas. Her teaching career spanned several decades in different schools in Arkansas, retiring in 1978 after serving 27 years in the Searcy Public Schools.
Survivors include a niece, Carol Phillips of Fayetteville and a beloved sister-in-law, Zola Staggs, of Searcy.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Henderson Cemetery, in Pangburn, with Rev. David Crouch officiating.
