Roy Lamar Vinson, a well-known Searcy resident died Tuesday, December 14, 2010. He was 81 years of age.
Lamar was born February 21, 1929 to Roy Vinson and Thelma Crosby Vinson in Hiram Bluff, Arkansas.
He was a graduate of Pangburn High School and served in the United States Navy. He was a member of College Church of Christ. Lamar owned a variety of Searcy businesses through the years including Vinson's Esso Station, Rendevous Restaurant and the local U-Haul Dealership and Greyhound bus station that he affectionately referred to as "the Corner".
Lamar is survived by his wife of 57 years Ann Harris Vinson; two daughters and four grandchildren, Kristie Vinson Sexton and husband Al, of Fayetteville, AR and Kim Vinson Maldonado of Richland, Washington. He loved the company of his four grandchildren; two granddaughters Bailey and Beth Sexton of Fayetteville, AR and two grandsons, Quinton and Cade Maldonado of Richland, WA. In addition, Lamar is survived by a brother, Crosby "Sonnie" Bryant of Houston, Texas; a sister Zella "Betty" Fowler, a sister and brother-in-law Joy and George Oliver and a beloved brother and sister-in-law Mark and Linda Harris, all of Searcy. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law Emily Colby of Blythe, CA and numerous relatives and friends.
Lamar loved to watch western movies and tend to his cattle and farm. He was known for his gruff exterior that hid a heart of gold. He was always ready with a helping hand for friends, as well as strangers.
Visitation will be Friday, December 17 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home. The funeral services will be held at the funeral home Saturday, December 18 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Henderson Cemetery in Pangburn.

July 31, 1933 - March 2, 2017

Ann Harris Vinson, age 83 of Searcy, died Thursday, March 2, 2017 in Searcy. She was born July 31, 1933 at Fairview, Arkansas to Finner Smith Harris and Ruby Kathleen Waters Harris. Ann was a 1951 graduate of Searcy High School where she was the Captain of the Lady Lions Basketball team. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. She married Lamar Vinson in 1953 and they moved to Yuma, Arizona, where they stayed until returning to Arkansas in 1958. Ann and Lamar owned a variety of Searcy businesses including the Rendezvous Restaurant, the local U-Haul dealership and the Greyhound bus station. Ann loved to travel. She was known for her sweet spirit and her kindness to everyone she encountered. She is survived by two daughters, Kristie Sexton and husband Al of Fayetteville, Kim Maldonado of Richland, Washington; four grandchildren, Bailey Sexton of Chicago, Illinois, Beth Sexton of Richland, Quinton Maldonado of Bellingham, Washington, Cade Maldonado and wife Emily of Richland; two great-grandchildren, Easton and Ellie Maldonado of Richland; one sister, Emily Colby of Blythe, California; one brother, Mark Harris and wife Linda of Searcy; two sisters-in-law, Betty Fowler of Searcy, Joy Oliver and husband George of Searcy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other loving family and friends. The family would like to thank her caregivers Courtney Simpson, Debbie Seibert, and Erica Shreves. Special thanks go to Dee and Lexi Rhodes, who became like family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Finner and Ruby Harris; husband, Roy Lamar Vinson; and brother, Joe Ben Harris. Visitation is scheduled from 12:00 until 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 8 at Powell Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Henderson Cemetery in Pangburn.
