Dock Wilburn Fortson, Jr., age 80, of Pangburn, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at the Southridge Village Nursing Center in Heber Springs. Born in Harrisburg, Arkansas, on October 4, 1927, he was the son of the late Dock Wilburn and Lucy (Bedwell) Fortson, Sr.

Mr. Fortson was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Fortson, Sr.; one daughter, Sherry Horst; one sister, Estelle Fortson; and one grandson, Mark Miller.

Mr. Fortson is survived by his wife of fifty years, Geneva K. Fortson; seven children; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob Fortson; and one sister, Anita Crawford. Mr. Fortson is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Mrs. Geneva Kay Burks died peacefully in Searcy, Arkansas at the age of 85, on December 21, 2019.

Geneva is survived by her brother George Prince and her children Rick Crisel (Kaye Crisel), Sharon (Crisel) DeKruger, Darrell Fortson (Dannette Fortson), Melbouorne Fortson (Maria Fortson) and Machele (Fortson) Looney, 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents Ennon and Gracy Prince, her brothers J.R., Bob, Gene, John, James and Harrold Prince, her sisters Betty Prince, Patsy Thome and Peggy Medford, spouses Dock Wilburn Fortson Jr. and David Elijah Burks, her children Linda (Crisel) Inman, Gary Fortson, Sherry (Fortson) Horst, Johnny Crisel and one grandchild Mark Miller.

Geneva's children remember her as a hard working woman with a strong will that loved her family. She had a deep faith in God and would often be heard singing gospel songs as she worked. She had a sense of humor that would leave you giggling and smiling, sometimes when you needed it the most ! She had a large family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who remember her as Nannie, always offering them candy, a sweet smile, and a gentle voice.

Visitation is scheduled for 9:00am on Monday, December 23, 2019 at Olmstead Funeral Home with funeral services following at 10:00am with Bro. Denver Gillespie officiating. Interment will follow in Henderson Cemetery.
