Freda Southerland, 91, of Jacksonville went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 24, 2022. She was born January 16, 1931 in Greenbrier to the late Edgar and Janie (Atkinson) Green. In addition to her parents, Freda was welcomed into Heaven with open arms by her husband of fifty-four years, Basil Southerland.

Freda was a member of the Pilgrim Nazarene Church in Cabot. She loved both God and her family. Freda’s children give her all the credit for raising them to be who they are today. She was selfless and willing to help anyone in need no matter the cost. In her spare time, Freda enjoyed gardening, both vegetables and flowers, particularly roses.

Those left to cherish Freda’s memory include her children, Ronnie (Sue) Southerland, Kevin (Carla) Southerland, Randy (Becky) Southerland, Karen (Joe) Smith, Edna (John) Haley, Lynn (Kristi) Southerland, and Phyllis (Willie) Jeffcoat; siblings, Edward Green and Shirley Carr; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
