James “Jim” Robert Hill, 88, of Jacksonville passed away on October 15, 2021. He was born February 20, 1933 in Brady, Texas to the late John B. and Mabel Lee (Veazey) Hill. In addition to his parents, Jim was welcomed into Heaven by his wife of sixty-seven years, Lillian (Sisk) Hill; and his sister, Wanda Theresa Hill.
Jim served in the United States Army helping to build the radar site in Sparrevohn, Alaska. He worked on the Atlas Missile Program for several years. He then spent the next thirty-three years working for phone companies and retired from General Telephone in Jacksonville, Arkansas. After retirement, Jim and Lillian travelled a lot. They visited every state in the U.S. including Hawaii and Alaska three times, in addition to the Caribbean Islands, Mexico, Canada and nine foreign countries. Jim loved his family, church, hunting, fishing and especially enjoyed automobiles. He was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
Those left to cherish his memory include his eldest son, Danny R. Hill, his wife Susan, their children, James Andrew “Andy” and Steven Michael and his wife, Ashley, their daughters, Brystol Rose and Savannah Rae Hill; his second son, James “Tommy” Hill and his children, Emily Kathleen and James Daniel “JD”, and their mother, Kelly; his sister, Sharon Hill Bode; his sidekick and furry friend, Hank (who is lost without him); as well as extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be the evening prior, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday October 20, 2021 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home. Memorial donations in Jim’s honor may be made to the Jacksonville Senior Wellness Center (100 Victory Circle, Jacksonville, AR, 72076). Lillian Virginia Hill, the daughter of Rankin and Versie (Gray) Sisk was born on February 7, 1933 and died on March 25, 2020 when the Lord reached down his hand and said “Lillian, it’s time”.
She was born in Bigflat, Arkansas and went to school there through the 5th grade. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1951, where she was an all-state basketball player.
After graduation she moved to Little Rock and started working at Westinghouse. Two years later, she was in Conway and met the love of her life, James Hill. They married in 1953 and had two wonderful sons, Danny and Tommy. They had a very happy life for 67 years.
Lillian stayed home and helped raise the boys until they were in high school, then she started to work at the Jacksonville High School as a cafeteria cook and later, area manager over the Pulaski County Special School District.
After retirement they travelled a lot. They visited every state in the United States including Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean Islands, as well as Old Mexico, Canada and 9 foreign countries.
She loved God, her family, church, friends, travelling, camping and sports, especially the Razorbacks and the Cowboys.
She was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Ralph.
Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, James Hill; her eldest son, Danny R. Hill, his wife Susan; their children, James Andrew “Andy” and Steven Michael and his wife, Ashley; their daughter, Brystol Rose and one on the way; her second son, James “Tommy” Hill and his children, Emily and James Daniel, and their mother, Kelly, as well as extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
A private service will be held for immediately family only.
Memorial in Lillian’s honor can be made to the Jacksonville Senior Wellness and Activity Center (100 Victory Circle, Jacksonville, AR 72076). Arrangements by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 501-982-2136.
