Our Oak has fallen. Otto Kiesel, 81, of Bentonville passed away Sept. 10, 2007, at his home. He was born Oct. 8, 1925, in Moberly, Mo., to Otto Anton and Marie Elizabeth Kiesel. He met the love of his life in Evansville, Ind., marrying her on June 10, 1944. They have spent 63 breathtaking years together.

Otto was a truck driver for 30 years, most of which was spent with Orscheln Brothers Truck Line in Moberly. After retiring from trucking he stick-built homes with his son, Anthony Paul "Tony" on a tract of country land he purchased from his father. The rural country road had become known as the O.A.K.'s because of his father's initials and the many majestic oak trees lining the property.

Otto's love of traveling took him to Arkansas, where he fell in love with the rolling hills of Beaver Lake. Lost Bridge soon became the family's vacationing spot, where Otto enjoyed his boat and watching his children and grandchildren learn to swim and ski. After the death of his father, Otto moved his family to Arkansas with the vision of starting a home building business with his son. O.A.K. Home Builders has been in business now for 30 years.

Like the mighty oak tree that Otto loved, he stood tall, true and strong for 81 years. He will be overwhelmingly missed by his wife, Ruth; his children, Donna Hill and spouse Ray of Ohio, Linda Guthrie and spouse Bill of Arkansas, Shirley Kiesel, whom is in heaven with her father, Janet Lauver and spouse Danny of Missouri, Tony Kiesel and spouse Candy of Arkansas and Robin Kiesel of Arkansas; his 19 grandchildren; his 31 great-grandchildren, and the many friends that he had the privilege of meeting. Thank you, Jesus, for allowing us all to be part of his life.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers, www.mem.com. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista. Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery.
