Vernon Bradford, 90, of Dover, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at his home.

He was born February 12, 1923, at Memphis, Tennessee, to Alfred D. and Lorece Huey Bradford.

He was a radar technician for the United States government for numerous years, and was stationed at the Buck Mountain Radar Tower for 15 years. He was a United States Navy veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, discharging as a Chief Petty Officer. He was an amateur radio operator, a Mason and an astronomer. He formerly attended the Dover First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Katrina Bradford; two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include three sons and daughter-in-law, John C. and Patricia Bradford of Knoxville, William C. and Rusty Bradford of Bend, Oregon, and James K. and Shirley Bradford of Clarksville; a brother and sister-in-law, Alfred Jr. and Elaine Bradford of McKinney, Texas; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley Smith of Memphis, and Janice and Jack Arnold of Colliersville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at the Shinn Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Jim Brooks. Burial in McFadden Cemetery at Dover will be private. Arrangements are by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
