Ms. Emma Jean Long Barnett died on 9/15/2022 in Randolph County Nursing Home at the age of 100.
She is survived by two sons, Douglas (Eileen) Barnett of Cookeville, Tennessee, and Don Barnett of Batesville, Mississippi; two granddaughters, 5 great grandchildren; one sister Jo Vatsula Pocahontas, Arkansas, and one brother, Olan Long of Manville, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jewel Barnett of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, one sister, Wilma Bercini of Pensacola, Florida, two brothers, Julian Long of Streator, Illinois, Jack Long of Hoxie, Arkansas, and stepbrother Raymond Long, and daughter-in-law, Brenda Barnett.
Ms. Emma was born in 1922, in Hoxie, Arkansas, to parents Charles Henry Long and Tina Josie Fritz Long. She lived in Walnut Ridge most of her adult life. Ms. Emma was a great family woman and loving wife. She married Jewel Marvin Barnett in December 1942. They managed the Pure Oil truck stop and restaurant, Barnett’s Trailer Sales, and 2-J RV Park on Highway 67 North for many years. They enjoyed traveling, making quilts, and going to various arts and craft fairs. Friends and family will always remember her by her various garden canned pickles and vegetables. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones who celebrate that she is at peace with her creator.
She was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
A graveside service is scheduled for Monday September 19, 2022 at Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge, AR. Reverend Lyle Hern will officiate. The family would like to especially thank all the care givers at Stonebridge and Randolph County Nursing Home, and associated doctors who cared for her over the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to White Oak Baptist Church, 190 Lawrence Rd 612, Walnut Ridge, AR 72476.
