Earlene Mae Whittaker, born June 4, 1938 to Clara Earl Herndon and Delia (Grandstaff) Herndon, won her battle with cancer on May 14, 2008 and received her reward of meeting Jesus. She was born in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and attended Grassy Knob School for 3 years before finishing at Eureka Springs by graduating in 1958. She has had a life long job as homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Lloyd, her parents, a sister, Marjory; 2 brothers, Bill and James Earl. She is survived by 2 sons, Stephen Daniel of Judsonia and Randy Whittaker and Linda of Searcy; 2 daughters, Jennifer Graves and Kenny of Judsonia and Sandra Tarlton of Bald Knob; 3 granddaughters, Brittany Daniel, Catie Daniel, Kelli Rasco and Miles; 1 grandson, Aaron Graves and 1 great-grandson, Mitchell Rasco; 3 brothers, Bob Herndon and Marlene of Weiser, Idaho, Don Herndon and Melissa of Eureka Springs and Kenneth Herndon and Linda of Eureka Springs; 3 sisters, Betty Jean McNeil and Vernon of Lyons, Colorado, Mary Farmer and Don of Delta, Colorado and Darlene (Molly) Pinkley and Kenneth of Eureka Springs and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and life-long friends.
Visitation will be held at Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob, Sunday, May 18, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. Services will be Monday, May 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Thomas Piker officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery near the Plainview Community.
