Gloria Jean Wilson Fitzhugh, age 65, of Benton passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018, in Little Rock. She was born February 10, 1953 in Little Rock. Gloria was a 1971 graduate of Malvern High School. She became a mom in 1974 to Philisia Fitzhugh (Orr). Motherhood filled her days with Girl Scout meetings, PTA activities, and softball score keeping. Gloria was a member of First United Methodist Church of Malvern for many years. She taught first and second grade Sunday School there for 20 years. Gloria earned her degree in early childhood education from Henderson State University. She graduated Summa Cum laude in December of 1988. She went on to teach kindergarten for 29 years for Benton Public Schools. She retired at the end of the 2017-2018 school year. Gloria dedicated her life to loving and teaching children. The three loves of her life were her grandchildren, Jace, Olivia, and Lilyana. There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with them. She was preceded in death by her father Charles Wilson and granny Lily Mae Boyd.

She is survived by her daughter and son in law Philisia and John Orr, grandchildren Jace, Olivia and Lilyana Orr of Bryant, her mother Jean James, a sister Judy James, a niece and nephew Michelle and Nicholas James all of Hot Springs, longtime friend Robin Elliott of Benton, and many caring friends and co-workers. She will be greatly missed.

A celebration of Life will be at First United Methodist Church of Bryant on Saturday August 18, at 10:00 am with Pastor Susan Ledbetter officiating. Visitation will follow the service. There will be a brief graveside service at Rockport Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Malvern at 2:00 pm with Reverend Bruce Bennett officiating.
