BLACKBURN, Elbert - (from War Eagle) The death angel visited this community last week and claimed as its victim Elbert Blackburn, Mr. Blackburn has been confined to his bed since February. He took the flu and it affected his lungs and later he took the dropsy which caused his death. He has spent most of his life here and is well known and loved by all who knew him. He was a very patient sufferer and has gone to reap his reward. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, four daughters and two sons: Mrs. Bertha Foust of Sonora; Mrs. Will Ingram of War Eagle; Mrs. Letha Whittaker of Slaten, Texas; Leta, who is still at home; Ottie Blackburn of this place and John Blackburn of Spring Valley, and a host of neighbors and friends. The family wishes to thank all who so kindly assisted them in his care during his sickness and death.

Springdale — Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Blackburn, 97, of 505 Hart St., died today at her home. She was born April 26, 1869 in Memphis, Tenn., and was a member of the Monte Ne Baptist Church.
Survivors are one son, Ottie of Lowell; three daughters, Mrs. Letha Whittaker of San Angelo, Tex., and Mrs. Elva Ingraham and Mrs. Lura Steelman, both of Springdale; one sister, Mrs. Will Kennan of Springdale; 11 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sisco Funeral Chapel with burial in War Eagle Cemetery.
