Charles L. Matthews, age 88, of Pearcy, went to be with his savior on Monday, March 5, 2018. He was born May 31, 1929 in Hot Springs.
Charles was a plumber by trade and owned Matthews Mechanical Contractors; prior to this he served his country in the Army Air Corp. He loved raising his “family named” polled Hereford cattle and also had a desire to see young kids receive an education to rely on, and served twelve years on the Lake Hamilton

School Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. and Maudie Stricklin Matthews; his wife of 60 years, Velma Mae Matthews; two sisters, Mildred Caldwell and Pauline Kelly; brother, Jim Daryl Matthews.

He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Sandy and Mike Scroggins, of Amity, Rhonda and John Paul Mills of Hot Springs; one granddaughter, Stephanie “Peaches” and her husband Jonathon Gibson of Hot Springs; brother-in-law, Herman and wife Bertie Mullings of Hot Springs; special family friend Sarah Hale of Royal; his hospice caregiver, Nancy Winkle of Hot Springs; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Joe Catlett, Greg Lammers, Gary Lammers, Chad Amerson, Andrew Bolton and Kyle Hollaway.

Honorary pallbearers are the men of Lakeshore Heights Baptist Church, former employees of Matthews Mechanical Contractors and Dr. Kevin Hale.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Lakeshore Heights Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, the Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home or a charity of your choice.
