Fay Edgar Garrett, 75, of 1217 Chestnut Street, Van Buren, Arkansas, died Monday in a Van Buren nursing home. He was a retired fork lift operator at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, a Navy veteran of World War II, a native of Van Buren and member of the Van Buren Pentecostal Church of God.

Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Van Buren Friendly Church of God. Burial was at Mount McCurry Cemetery in Rudy under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.

He was survived by his wife, Ellen (now deceased 1996); two step-daughters, Trella and Lenora; a brother; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Ellen R. Garrett, 87, of Van Buren, Arkansas died Tuesday, June 11, 1996 at a local nursing home. She was a homemaker, member of Friendly Pentecostal Church of Van Buren and a lifelong resident of Van Buren. She was the wife of Fay Edgar Garrett who preceded her in death in 1984.

Survivors include two daughters; three sisters; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Friendly Pentecostal Church of Van Buren with the Rev. Herman Ring and the Rev. Paul Dougan officiating. Burial was at Mount McCurry Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
