Perry N. "Shannon" Burkhart, 67 of Mesa, Arizona, died Tuesday, December 1, 1992, in Mesa.

He was a retired owner/operator of Burkhart Furniture in Anchorage, Alaska, a World War II Army veteran who moved from Arkansas to Alaska in 1955. He was a member of the Mt. Susitna Masonic Lodge No. 8 in Anchorage, member of Scottish Rite, 32 degree Mason, Alaska Shirne Temple, veteran member of Alaska Shrine Patrol and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1685 in Anchorage.

Masonic graveside services was held at 11 a.m. Monday at Edwards Van-Alma chapel with burial at Mount McCurry Cemetery in Rudy.

He is survived by one son, one sister, two brothers, and two grandchildren.

Mary Inez Kelly Burkhart
November 14, 1927 - March 24, 2019

She was the Co-owner and operator of Burkhart Furniture in Anchorage, a member of the Lady Shriners, and was the matriarch of the Burkhart family. She was a very spirited individual, being the reason the family moved to Alaska in 1955. She was a pilot, and owned and flew her own airplane for years. She enjoyed flying around Alaska, and the hunting and fishing that the great state of Alaska afforded.

She was preceded in death by her husband Perry N. “Shannon” Burkhart.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, April 4 in Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Mount McCurry Cemetery in Rudy under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

She is survived by her son Don Burkhart and wife Ruth of Wasilla, Alaska, a sister Judy LaRue of Chester, Arkansas, a brother Buddy Kelly of Kibler, Arkansas, two grandchildren; Kelly Burkhart of Denver, Colorado and Michelle Johnson of Los Angeles, California.
