Alfred William Carle Jr. 79, of Fort Smith, AR formerly of Stuttgart, AR, passed away December 15,2014 at his home after a short illness. Born February 26, 1935 in Stuttgart to the late Alfred William Carle Sr. and Imogene Wallace Carle. He graduated from Stuttgart High School in 1953, lettered in football, attended Concordia Lutheran College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and then transferred to the College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR where he played football. After college he returned home to farm with his father. On June 12, 1955 he married Barbara Underwood of DeWitt. They were married for 56 years before her death April 26, 2011. In 1957 he joined the United States Air Force, after his duty he returned home to farming. Alfred retired from farming in 1979 to pursue his lifelong dream to be an ordained minister. He graduated as an ordained minister from Royce Bible School of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1983. He served as pastor of the Old Union Baptist Church in Monticello, AR He and his wife also served as house parents to the Arkansas Baptist Children Home in Monticello and The Boys Shelter in Fort Smith, AR until they retired in 2002. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church in Fort Smith. He is survived by his daughter Jan Montgomery (Tom) of Fort Smith and son Dean Allen Carle (Beth) of Broussard, LA. Four grandchildren; Amber Hebert (Bobby), Dean Allen Carle II (Mary), Joseph Carle (Kristin) all of Broussard, LA and Robert Montgomery of Fort Smith. Four great grandchildren; Brayden and Gabrielle Hebert, Kendall Carle and Colton Carle of Broussard, LA Sisters: Carolena Carle Maier and Aldora Carle Roth (Clark) of Stuttgart and Brother Leonard Carle (Anita) of Hope, AR and many nieces and nephews. Family will visit with friends Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service at Lewis-Roberts Funeral Chapel, Fort Smith. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday December 17,2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Lewis-Roberts Funeral Chapel, Fort Smith. Burial at Mount McCurry Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Baptist Children Home, Monticello, AR, and The Boys Shelter at Fort Smith or Donor’s Choice.

FORT SMITH, Ark. —
Barbara Janet Carle, 74, of Fort Smith, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in Fort Smith.. She was born February 2, 1937 in Stuttgart, and raised in Dewitt. She was a member of EastSide Baptist Church and retired from Arkansas Baptist Children's Home in Monticello, AR. and The Boy's Shelter in Fort Smith.

She will be missed by her husband Alfred "Bud" of 56 years, her daughter Jan Montgomery husband Thomas of Fort Smith,her son Dean Carle wife Beth of Lafayette, La.. Grandsons Robert Montgomery of Fort Smith, Dean Carle II and significant other Mary Landry, Joseph Carle and significant other Kristin Ventress; Granddaughter Amber Hebert husband Bobby and two great grandchildren Brayden and Gabrielle all of Lafayette, La.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at EastSide Baptist Church Chapel in Fort Smith, with a private interment at McCurry Cemetery. Memorials may be made to EastSide Baptist Church, Peachtree Hospice, Arkansas Baptist Children's Home in Monticello, or The Boy's Shelter. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
