December 6, 1962 - July 16, 2014
David A. Sturdivant, 51, of Huttig, passed away July 16, 2014, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Institute in Houston, with family by his side.
He was born Dec. 6, 1962, in El Dorado, to James Sturdivant and Betty (Johnson) Sturdivant.
David served his country in the U.S. Navy and furthered his life education at the University of Louisiana in Monroe with a degree in construction engineering.
His faith in God, family, friends and the love of motorcycle riding kept him going in his six-year-long battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, B.D. and Marie Johnson and Cecil and Mittie Gathright.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Betty (Johnson) Sturdivant; his father, James Sturdivant; two brothers, Kenny Sturdivant and Jeff Sturdivant; three nephews; and two nieces.
Graveside services will be held at Centerpoint Cemetery on the Old Strong Highway at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, followed by a memorial service at Knowles Baptist Church.
