February 8, 1881 - June 8, 1964
Mrs. Drucie Ballard Sturdivant, 83, of Route One, Strong died at her home Monday at 4:15 a.m. after a long illness. Born in Strong Feb. 8, 1881, the daughter of William and Ann Saunders Ballard, Mrs. Sturdivant was a lifelong resident of Union County and a member of the Knowles Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Will T. Sturdivant, Thurmon Sturdivant and Denny Sturdivant, all of Strong; a daughters, Mrs. Peal Dopson of Strong; a stepson, Jim Bob Sturdivant of El Dorado; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Andrews and Mrs. Daisy Vernon, both of Strong; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She leaves also a number of step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Knowles Baptist Church with the Rev. John E. Hargett officiating. Burial will be in the Centerpoint Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Jim Ballard, Clyde Ballard, Harold Ballard, Howard Ballard, Elmer Andrews and Ogden Molsbee. The body will be taken home late Monday afternoon. (The El Dorado Times - June 8, 1964)
