John E. Dillon, 79, of Jacksonville, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020. He was born December 2, 1940 in McNairy County, Tennessee to the late John E. and Nettie Kathryn Henry Dillon. Mr. Dillon retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service and from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department after 20 years. In both careers, he served as a bomb dog handler and helped create the drug and bomb dog unit of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department. Following his second retirement, Mr. Dillon worked as a U.S. Marshall at the federal courthouse in Little Rock. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dillon was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Jean Dillon and a brother, Sonny B. Dillon.

Mr. Dillon is survived by his children, Freddy Barbo of Cabot and Melissa Bounds of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Bruce Dillon (Krystn), Logan Schulz and Rani Bounds and a brother, Steve Wright (Sunhui) of Memphis, Tennessee.

There will be a private graveside service. The family will also be having a public memorial celebration with military honors 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home, (501) 982-2136.

Melba Jean Dillon, 79, of Sherwood passed from this life on Monday, April 29, 2019. She was born Tuesday, January 23, 1940 in Natchitoches, Louisiana to the late J.C. and Pearl Troquille Wilkerson. Mrs. Dillon was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed crafting, sewing and interior design, but found her greatest joy in her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Linda Streeter and Charlotte Wilkerson.

Survivors include her loving husband of fifty-eight years, John E. Dillon; children, John F. (Tammy) Barbo of Cabot, Melissa Dillon-Bounds of Nashville, Tennessee.; grandchildren, Bruce (Krystn) Dillon of Cabot, Logan Schulz and Rani Bounds both of Nashville, Tennessee. Other survivors include siblings, Glenda (Dale) Wolfe of Tonganoxie, Kansas, Joe Vercher of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Jimmy Fletcher of Texarkana, Texas; along with a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2019 at the funeral home. Arrangements by Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home, (501) 982-2136.
