James Christopher McConnell, 83, of Fayetteville died Sunday in a local hospital. Born July 10, 1898 at Shawnee, Okla., the son of Samuel M. and Mary M. Johnson McConnell, he was a Methodist, a constable for Washington County and a member of the Cincinnati Masonic Lodge for 35 years. He was also a member of the Scottish Rites, Shriner's, and Order of the Eastern Star.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Jones McConnell of the home; two sons, Carl of Cucamongo, Calif. and George McConnell of Fayetteville; three daughters, Mrs. Juanita Wilson, of Cincinnati, Ark. Mrs. Irene McReynolds of Fayetteville and Mrs. Vivian Misel of Lakewood, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Malone of Sperry, Okla. and Mrs Thelma Downing, of Pryor, Okla.; a brother, Warren of Holdenville, Okla.; 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Nelson's Funeral Home with burial in Old Union Cemetery at Summers.

Mrs. Mary E. McConnell, of Fayetteville, died today at her home. Born March 8, 1901, in Marion County, the daughter of Marion Monroe and Mary Frances Fletcher Jones, she was a homemaker, a member and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star #496 and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors are two sons, Carl McConnell and George McConnell, both of Fayetteville, three daughters, Mrs. Juanita Wilson of Cincinnati, Mrs. Vivian Meisle of Lakewood, Calif. and Mrs. Irene McReynolds of Fayetteville; a brother, Homer Jones of Tulsa; a sister, Mrs. Inez Edes of Waggoner, Okla., 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Nelson's Funeral Home.
