Bill Zane Schnitzer, 86, of Garfield, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers. He was born March 28, 1934, in Garfield to Theodore Schnitzer and Wilma Mae Schooley Schnitzer.

He was a lifelong resident of Garfield and married Lida Francis Ellis, Dec. 17, 1954. He worked for his father's filling station in Gateway, Ark., was the president of the Gateway Water Dept., helped start VAS ambulance service, was on the Gateway City Council for years and, along with Clarence McKenzie, made improvements to the Gateway City Park.

He was a cattle farmer and later retired from Daisy Manufacturing in Rogers after 33 years.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cassville, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Lida of the home; a son, Billy Schnitzer Jr. of Garfield; a daughter, Pam Shaw and husband Mike of Garfield; six grandchildren, Andrea, Aaron, Joshua, Lacey, Heather and Melissa; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is set for 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, in Ruddick Cemetery in Garfield.

There is no visitation scheduled.

Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.
