Gordon Phillips Chouteau joined his heavenly family October 4, 2020.
He was born to Fredrick and Catherine (Dalsing) in Independence, Kansas May 26, 1927.
He served our country as a pharmacy mate for the U.S. NAVY during WWII.
After the war, he attended Loyola University at New Orleans, where he met and married the love of his life Betty Catherine Jones of Hattiesburg MS, while she attended Baptist Nursing. Gordon graduated with BS in Chemistry, which allowed him to travel the world. He was a proud member of the Shawnee Tribe of Miami OK. After retirement, he became lifetime member of VFW Post 2278. Members of the Honor Guard gave him the nick name 'ironside' for attending 143 of 152 veterans funerals in 1 yr. He was absolute in his Roman Catholic Faith, a parishioner of St Mary of the Springs and later in life St Judes in Clinton AR.
They had 8 children. Dr Stephen (Pam) Chouteau, Jackson MS. Jeanne (De) Chouteau, Clinton Ar. Therese (Brown) Pendleton, Fayetteville AR. Mary(Joe) Smith, Rainbow city, AL. Karen Jenkins, Hot Springs AR. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Mary Mullinkin of Tulsa OK.
He was preceded by wife Betty, son Michael Chouteau. Daughters Anne Francis and Nancy Cecilia.
