SPRINGDALE — Bennie Donald "Don" Shelton, 74, of Springdale, Ark., went to be with the Lord Jan. 10, 2021. He was born April 5, 1946, in Alicia, Ark., the son of the late Kelly and Ethel Ruth Pruett Shelton.

Don was a member of the Elm Springs United Methodist Church. He had served in the Navy during the Vietnam era where he served on the USS Saint Paul and was a lifetime member of the VFW. Don retired from the California Department of Corrections at the rank of captain, after 32 years of service.

He enjoyed tinkering in his shop but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his great-grandchildren, Pandora and Atlas.

He was preceded in death by 10 siblings.

Don is survived by his wife, Margaret Ruth "Peg" Acton Shelton of the home; children Timothy Ray Shelton and wife Tammy of New Port, Ark., Daniel Kelly Shelton of Eureka Springs, Ark., and Lisa Bacila of Rogers, Ark.; brother Billie Ronald Shelton of Jonesboro, Ark.; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be at Elm Springs Cemetery with Rev. Jennie Williams officiating under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, 3926 Willowood Ave., Springdale, Ark, 72762. Military honors will be provided by the Navy and Rogers VFW post 3031. Online condolences may be made at www.memorialfhspringdale.com.
