Chester Steinsiek, 58, of Van Buren, Arkansas died Thursday at Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was a retired chief of police, a World War II Marine at Iwo Jima and a member of Maple Shade Church of the Nazarene.

Steinsiek served as chief of police at Van Buren for 12 years. He was followed in the office by John Ames and current police Chief Virgil Goff.

Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel. Burial was in Newbertry Cemetery near Alma.

He is survived by his wife Wilma; two daughters, Donna of Van Buren and Jeanie of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one sons, Donnie Ray of Alma; his father, Chester Steinsiek Sr of Alma; and seven grandchildren.

Wilma Steinsiek, 71, of Van Buren died July 1, 1997 in a local hospital.

She was retired from Dixie Cup and a member of the Nazarene Church in Van Buren. She was the widow of Chester J. Steinsiek.

She was survived by two daughters, Donna Armstrong of Alma, and Jeanie Ables of McRae; one son, Donnie Steinsiek of Kibler; two sisters, Kay Wilkerson of Graphic COmmunity and Patsy Stanford of Barling; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral home in Van Buren with burial at Newberry Chapel.
