COMISSIONARY SERGEANT Company G Second Regiment
Arkansas Calvary Volunteers
War of the Rebellion
November 20, 1841 - August 10, 1926
Elisha was the 10th child of Jacob M. & Jane W. (Harmon) Meadors. It seems the Meadors surname is ever changing. I think Elisha B. went by Meadows. Federal Census enumerators spelled his surname as Meadors for 60 years, yet his enlistment records list him as Meadows.
On the 19th day of Sept. 1863, at the age of 19 y/o, E. B. Meadows enlisted in Van Buren, AR to serve his country in the War of the Rebellion. He was attached the Second Regiment Arkansas Cavalry Volunteers Union Army Company 'G' where he served as a Comissionary Sergeant. [I beleive he may have been a member of the post-civil war veteran's organization 'Grand Army of the Republic' (G.A.R.)]
In Crawford Co., AR on Nov. 18th, 1866 Elisha married Mrs. Julia Ann (Meadors) Moore, widowed wife of Martin Moore. To this union 4 children were born William B., Jacob W., Charles G. & Hugh F. Meadow(r)s.
