Marvin REED

Mars Hill (Texas Township) Cemetery
Lee County,
Arkansas

Oct 4, 1859 - Aug 11, 1899

Too good for Earth God called him home.

*It is known by the family that Francis Marion Reed's son, Marvin, aged 17 died 20 Jan 1900 just a few months after his father and is buried next to him. After this time Francis Marion Reed's widow, Mary Emaline Reed and her surviving children moved to Texas. My husband and I have visited, and we did not find a marker for Marvin. It is likely that there never was one, but we'd like it to be recorded that he rests there.

Thank you,
Denise Bumford

*When Francis Marion (Bud) Reed was born in November 1859 in Alabama, his father, Ephraim, was 38 and his mother, Cynthia, was 35. He married Mary E Landrum on February 15, 1880, in Lauderdale, Alabama. They had five children in Alabama and then moved to Mars Hill, Arkansas (near Palestine) where they had two more. He died there on August 11, 1899, at the age of 39. (NOTE: in more than one census record Francis is listed as a girl.)

When Marvin Reed was born on October 3, 1882, in Brush Creek, Alabama, his father, Francis, was 22 and his mother, Mary, was 25. He had six siblings. He died of pneumonia on January 20, 1900, in Mars Hill, Arkansas. He is buried next to his father. There is no marker.
