He is predeceased by his grandmother, Royce Gathercole: grandparents, Ira and Thelma Jackson, Uncle Harlon A. Smith; and nephew, Evan Jackson. John graduated from Lakeside High School, Hot Springs, Arkansas, and attended the University of Arkansas, and Henderson College. He was employed by Jackson Reconstruction, Incorporated. John brought joy to the lives he touched. He was a friend to the friendless. Extremely generous with both his time and resources, John shared with his family and friends. He was blessed musically and artistically. He was most content when he was surrounded by his family and the first to give bear hugs. His large grin and instant humor brought laughter and joy. John’s happiness came from simple things; family, Food, children and animals, Food, music, Food, laughter, Food, the night sky, pizza, subway sandwiches, the feel of a raw piece of wood waiting to be created into something coming from his heart to be given away for the pleasure of someone else. There are no words to describe the void his very early passing will leave for his family and many others. We will miss our gentle giant. Caruth Hale Funeral Home will be handling his cremation and a Celebration Service will be held Friday, May 8, 2015, at 3:00 p.m., at CrossFit Hot Springs, Quapaw Community Center, Hot Springs, Arkansas, and graveside service at Memorial Gardens immediately following. Honorary Pallbearers are anyone who has ever worn a CrossFit or cross country T-Shirt. CrossFit Hot Springs will host an honorary Workout of the Day (WOD) named after and inspired by John Phillip Jackson, on Friday, May 8, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. at the Quapaw Community Center, Hot Springs, AR. All are welcome to participate or watch. Friends and family will be gathering at Superior Bath House, Hot Springs, AR at 7:00 p.m. that evening for remembering John. John had an insatiable passion for physical fitness and inspired the same in others. There are two ways donation can be made: 1) Checks may be mailed to Lakeside School District Administration, 2837 Malvern Avenue, Hot Springs, AR 71901 in John’s Name, or 2) a Go Fund Me account has been set up at http://www.gofundme.com/tta24fc.
