*Obituary

Emelene Carol Haney, age 77, of Beebe, Arkansas, passed away July 27, 2021 at her home. She was born on March 25, 1944 to the late Renard Odell Ring and Nola May Holliman in Quitman, Arkansas.

Our loving mother of 7 children possessed copious amounts of talents and skills as a Domestic Engineer as her primary role other than her very short stint of a career with the state of AR in the late 70’s. Her role, under the supervision of Governor Bill Clinton, was an implementation specialist of a weatherization program for low income seniors. This program was to properly insulate and furnish their homes with air conditioners and/or heaters. That career only lasted for a couple of years as my father felt she was needed more as a stay-at-home mother (Domestic Engineer) to her then 5 children and husband. In the years of 1982 and 1985 our parents were blessed with giving birth to two additional beautiful baby girls (Alicia and Leslie) expanding our family to 7 children. She became a widow in December 1986, courageously raising her 4 minor children on her own. Her children were her everything and her greatest accomplishments. When she spoke of her children, it was evident by the passion and pride she exuded while gleaming from ear to ear.

She also enjoyed being outdoors in nature, fishing and gardening. Her green thumb talents lent to many prosperous gardens spanning over several acres and numerous beautiful flower gardens at our home for many years leaving people envious of her successful yields. Her food canning skills kept food on the table year round. Her hands continuously providing for her family. She was the first one to rise in the morning and the last to lay her head down. Three hot country meals a day made by her precious hands along with numerous gallon jugs of sweet tea blessings to our family. Her singing God’s praises and songs could be heard throughout any hour of the day and night along with prayers of protection for her loved ones.

She was a Soldier for Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. A few of her favorite scriptures are Psalms 23, Psalms 150, Proverbs 31.

She raised her children in church from birth and ingrained the Holy Bible into our lives as not to depart from God’s word. She didn’t attend seminary, however, her knowledge of His word was equivalent it any scholar and would flow effortlessly off her tongue. She reminded us often “if your life is not going so well, get your head in your Bible and not of the world”. Her grandchildren can testify of her many teachings and her influences of His word as she insisted it being the only solid foundation to stand on. Her love and passion as a grandmother and great-grandmother will forever live on in the hearts of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Any one that meet her knew her heart and soul was made of gold always genuine, honest and loving. She gave the best hugs, the ones that melted you into her with her arms wrapped around you as she didn’t want to ever let go. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Just know she is with you at all times in your heart. May God finally rest her soul in peace!

She is preceded in death by her husband Paul Earl Haney; her parents; one daughter, Jeanette Christine Haney; two brothers, Kenneth Ring, and Rayburn Ring.

Emelene is survived by two sons, Bobby Earl Haney of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and Paul Anthony Haney of Cabot, Arkansas; four daughters; Dana Carol Ross of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, Rita Charlene Haney of Raleigh, North Carolina, Alicia Lynn Lawson of Heber Springs, Arkansas, and Leslie Nicole Greer of Rose Bud, Arkansas; two brothers, Calvin Ring of Heber Springs, Arkansas, and Ira Ring of Prim, Arkansas; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many friends and family.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at St. Mary's Cemetery in Rose Bud, Arkansas.
