*When James Walter Hawks was born on April 18, 1874, in Red Banks, Mississippi, his father, Perry, was 30 and his mother, Mary, was 30. He married Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Patterson on December 27, 1893, in Prairie, Arkansas. They had eight children in 16 years. He died on February 1, 1947, at the age of 72.
