Jo Ann Bridges age 67 of Parkers Chapel passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. She was born February 26, 1951 in Huttig, AR to the late Jackie Russell Foster and Joe Foster. She Graduated with MNSc from UAMS in 1993, BSN from University of Arkansas at Monticello in 1987, ADN from Southern State University in 1976 and the LPN program at Oil Belt Vocational School in 1969. She also served as an adjunct clinical instructor for both UAMS and SAU in 1990s. Jo Ann retired as Director of Women's Center and Nursery after more than 45 years of service at Medical Center of South Arkansas. She taught the first Lamaze childbirth education classes in El Dorado, touching the lives of hundreds of South Arkansas families over four decades. Jo Ann shared her knowledge and experience acting as a mentor for many nursing students and nurses over the years. She was a wonderful nurse and had a special gift for working with patients and their families, selected by her peers as an Outstanding Nurse Manager.
Jo Ann served as a volunteer for 15 years for the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Organization and the Ouachita River Pageant Association. She was awarded Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Volunteer of the Year. Jo Ann was a faithful and active member of Parker's Chapel First Baptist Church.
Out of all her accomplishment she was most honored to be called "MeMe".
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her parents.
Survivors include; her husband of 51 years, Doyce L. Bridges; one daughter, Melissa Henley; one son, Kevin Bridges and wife Morgan; two granddaughters, Lauren Alyse Brumley and Ali Nikkole Brumley ; one grandson, Grant Michael Brumley all of Parkers Chapel; three brothers, Gary Foster and wife Liz, Danny Foster, and Ricky Foster all of Shreveport, LA also, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Parkers Chapel First Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Parkers Chapel First Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Hudson and Bro. Bob Inmon officiating. Burial will follow at Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.
