Millie Jo Harris, 90, of Parkers Chapel, formerly of Hot Springs, peacefully entered her eternal home surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, October 16, 2017, at John R. Williamson LifeTouch Hospice.
She was born on December 22, 1926, in Monroe, Arkansas, to Lester D. Ball and Geneva Ball. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Carrol D. Harris. She is survived by her son, Jim (Debbie) Harris of Redfield; daughter, Sandy (John) Gross of Parkers Chapel; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Trafton Ball and L.D. Ball; sister, Corinne Wilson; and two grandchildren, Carrie Elizabeth Harris and Corrie Gross Bechtelheimer.
After graduating from Wynne High School, she attended Arkansas State University majoring in Business. She was a bookkeeper for Reid-Holcomb Construction Company in Indianapolis, Indiana, for ten years before moving to Hot Springs where she was the bookkeeper and office manager for K-Mart. She retired from K-Mart after more than 30 years of loyal service. While in Hot Springs, she was active in the Elks Lodge Women’s Organization, Belles and Beaus, Pilot Club, and she attended First Baptist Church. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Parkers Chapel to be closer to her family. She attended Immanuel Baptist Church and was a member of Alpha Xi Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha. She loved spending time playing cards and bunko with her family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Young’s Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 on Friday, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, at the Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery with Brother Jimmy Meek officiating. Pallbearers are Brian Gross, Scotty Gross, Brett Harris, Jeff Cummings, Trey Bechtelheimer, Ross Lowery, Mike Ross and Kade Cushing.
