Lyle S. Honeycutt age 79 of El Dorado passed from this life on Friday, August 28, 2015 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado. Lyle was born on March 21, 1936 in Bastrop, LA to the late Blanche Irene Reynolds Honeycutt and Robert Austin "Bob" Honeycutt. Lyle grew up in Springhill, LA and attended Springhill High School. After high school, Lyle joined the US Navy where he served aboard the USS Salem Battleship. He served his country honorably for four years before his discharge in 1959. After returning home after the service, Lyle moved to El Dorado and took a job with Great Lakes Chemical in 1965. Lyle then worked for Great Lakes for thirty five years and retired as a supervisor in the environmental department in 2000. After retirement, Lyle enjoyed playing golf and fishing before his health stopped him from going. Lyle was a longtime member of Parkers Chapel First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. Lyle was a family man and loved his family dearly. He especially enjoyed riding the grandkids on the golf cart and all the good times spent around the dinner table.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Rodrick Dean Honeycutt and by one son, Mark A. Honeycutt
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jo C. Honeycutt of El Dorado; two sons, Tracy Honeycutt and wife Brenda of Lawson and Greg Honeycutt and wife Heather of Norphlet; three grandsons, Austin Honeycutt and wife Linley of El Dorado, Clayton Honeycutt and Justin Pike both of Norphlet; two granddaughters, Kelsey Honeycutt of Lawson and Julie Pike of Norphlet; two great granddaughters, Kenlee and Maddie Honeycutt both of El Dorado and another great granddaughter expected in November; one sister, Sylvia Carpenter of El Dorado also, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 2-5 pm on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Bailey Funeral Home in El Dorado
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Parkers Chapel First Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Hudson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Parkers Chapel First Baptist Church Building Fund.
