Thursday evening, October 7, 2010, Marion Richard Hale went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born January 25, 1921 to James Kenneth and Martha Phyliss Aton Hale of the Vinity Community, Arkansas.
Marion was a member of Garner Missionary Baptist Church in Garner, Arkansas. As a World War II veteran, he was active in American Legion Post #350 of Searcy, Arkansas, and on occasion hosted the 843rd Army Signal Corp reunion. Throughout his adult life, Marion served in a variety of jobs from farmer, to truck driver, to school bus driver, and also road construction. He retired in 1983 from the White County Road Department. Mr. Hale served many years as president of the Vinity Hunting Club and the coordinator of the Vinity Crime Watch.
He was preceded in death by his mother, dad, and three younger brothers, John Kenneth, James Arthur, and Clarence Herschel Hale.
Marion is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Glenda B. Duncan Hale; his son, Ocie and wife, Elfi Hale of Vinity; his daughter, Glenita and husband, Larry Anderson of Batesville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Chris Hale of Vinity, Phillip and wife, Kelli Hale of Bald Knob, Arkansas, LaNita and husband, Brad Russell, and Stephen Anderson, all of Conway, Arkansas; great-grandchildren are James and Asher Hale of Bald Knob. He will also be missed by three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of church family and friends.
Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2010. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe. Burial will follow services in Cheek Cemetery in the Vinity Community.
