*When Nellie E. Gilbert was born on March 3, 1878, in White, Arkansas, her father, Samuel, was 39, and her mother, Henrietta, was 34. She had four brothers and one sister. She died on April 2, 1897, in her hometown at the age of 19, and was buried in Russell, Arkansas.
