Jessie Mildred Shackelford, 71, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, May 23, 1995, at Fayetteville. Born Oct. 13, 1923, at Winslow, the daughter of Claude R. and Ica Ora Robinson Center, she was a retired secretary for the University of Arkansas and a member of Rolling Hills Baptist Church. She was a member of the Gold Star Wives of American and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Springdale. She was a lifelong resident of Northwest Arkansas.
Survivors are two sons, Larry Purser and Bruce Osburn, both of Fayetteville; two daughters, Arlene Hatcher and Doris Undernehr, both of Fayetteville; four brothers, Lonnie Center, Claude R "Jack" Center Jr., both of Grenland, Robert Center of Fayetteville and James Center of Cedar Hills, Texas; a sister, Berniece Talley of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral is at 10 a.m. Friday at Nelson's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Layne Smith officiating. Burial is in Brentwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m, today. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
