Clint Shook, Treasurer Of County, Dies

Clint Shook, 68, Washington county treasurer since January 1, 1947, died unexpectedly at noon Saturday after bring stricken with a heart attack at his home, 227 North School Street. He was a native of Washington County, having been born at Sunset, January 23, 1892, the son of Emory and Margaret Lee Shook.

He was a member of the Methodist Church at Winslow, a member of the Summit Masonic Lodge No. 530, F. and A.M. of Winslow. March 7, 1912, he married Miss Virgie White.

Survivors are his wife; one son, Lonnie Shook of Fayetteville; a brother, Earl E. Shook of Fayetteville, and a sister, Mrs. Ellen Hanshaw of West Fork.

Funeral service will he conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m., at the Winslow Methodist Church by the Rev. Dee Smith, assisted by Mack Qualls. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted at the Brentwood cemetery with arrangements by Nelson's Funeral Home.

The Washington County courthouse will be closed for the services.

Virgie Shook, 83, Fayetteville died Feb. 18 in a Fayetteville hospital following an extended illness. Born Oct. 31, 1893, at White House, Ark., she was the daughter of John and Emma Arnold White. She was a Methodist and past matron of the Clyde Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star at Winslow.

Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lonnie Shook of Fayetteville; two nephews, Ernest Standley of Fayetteville and Jerry Don Chandler of Winslow; two nieces, Mrs. Agnes Stockburger of Winslow and Mrs. Marjorie Budd of Fayetteville.

Services were at 2 p.m. today in Nelson's Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. M.C. Parrish officiating. Burial was in Brentwood Cemetery under direction of Nelson's.

Pallbearers were Jack Stockburger, Jerry Don Chandler, Jack Budd, Ernest Standley, Tex Davidson and Ken Young.

Memorials may be made to Winslow Methodist Church.
