Carl E. Smith, 75, Winslow, died Oct. 17 at his home. Born Oct. 1, 1902, at Brentwood, he was the son of Joseph and Mary Pruitt Smith, a member of the Baptist Church and a retired railroad section foreman.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Thelma Smith of the home; two sons, Marvin Smith, Tulsa, Okla., and Bob J. Smith, Hot Springs; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Watkins, Sand Springs, Okla., and Mrs. Kary Brannon, Roland Hights, Calif.; one stepson, Hugh Stonesifer, Benton; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Billie Mills, Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Howard Smith, Avado, Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Tomlinson, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Grace Routan, Fowler, Kan., and Mrs. Betty Watson, Battle Creek, Mich.; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Nelson Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

Funeral services for Carl E. Smith, 75, Winslow, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Nelson Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Burial will be in Brentwood Cemetery under the direction of Nelson.

Mrs. Vera Alberta Smith, 44, died this morning at her home in Winslow after a long illness. Born in Joplin, she had lived in Winslow 10 years. She was a member of the Christian Church.

Surviving are her husband, Carl E. Smith; two daughters, Ruby and Carrie, both of the home; two sons, Marvin, seaman, second class, of San Diego and Bobby of the home; her father, A.M. Goff of Dallas; five sisters, Mrs. Russell Vandolah of San Gabriel, Calif., Mrs. Isaac Caudle of West Fork, Mrs. William Howell of Dallas, Mrs. Horace Smith of Chester and Mrs. R.S. Hale of Oklahoma City; four brothers, Fred of Des Moines, Iowa, George of San Gabriel, John of Dallas and Harry.

Funeral arrangements under direction of the Nelson-Savage Funeral Home are incomplete.
