CARLSBAD, Calif. - Lloyd Franklin Steele, age 82, of Carlsbad, Calif., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015. Born in Virginia to Charles and Maude Steele, he grew up in Bristol, Tenn.
Lloyd served honorably in the Army during the Korean War in the 5th Regimental Combat Team. He met his Savior Jesus Christ while earning a degree in industrial engineering at Letourneau University.
Lloyd was an extremely loving and kind husband to his wife to whom he was married 60 years, a long time deacon at his church and a life-long guide and mentor to many.
Lloyd's passing was preceded by his parents and his brother, John H. Steele of Bristol, Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Lindabury Steele and daughter Rebecca Geary both of Carlsbad, Calif., and son, Marty Steele of Austin, Texas. He's also leaves behind sisters, Betty Deen Stevens of Bristol, Tenn., Estella Stahr, of Portage, Mich., and brothers, Arthur Steele of Baton Rouge, La., and Ed Steele of Snellville, Ga., two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Friday Feb. 27, 2015, at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Moore's Chapel with burial to follow at Brentwood Cemetery in the Brentwood Community. To place an online tribute visit www.mooresfuneralchapel.com.
