Edith Durfee Wilkins, 97, of Jacksonville died peacefully on Sunday, December 16, 2018, surrounded by family. She was born August 31, 1921 in Parkin, Arkansas to the late John Cleveland and Carrie Green Durfee. She married the late Waymon Wilkins in 1946, and moved to Jacksonville 1957, where he later retired from military service. Active in the community, she was a long-time volunteer with the hospital auxiliary, a member of Eastern Star, Second Baptist Church of Jacksonville, and the Jacksonville Garden Club.
Survivors include daughter, Donna (Michael) Wilkinson; son, John (Gina) Wilkins; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The family would like to extend special gratitude to the caring staff of Stonebridge Village of Cabot and Kindred Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home (501) 982-2136.
