Jay Clark Baskin, 75, of Hartman, Arkansas died Thursday, July 7, 2005, in a Fort Smith, Arkansas hospital. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, worked 28 years with heavy equipment with Sully Miller Construction Co. of Orange, California and was a lifetime member of the BPOE Elks Lodge No. 1475.

The body was cremated under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville. Memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Friday at Harmony Cemetery near the funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife; and one sister, Willa of Lakeside, California.

Charlotte Lorene Baskin of Hartman passed away on November 12, 2019 at the age of 83 in Hartman. She was born on October 2, 1936 in the Tick Hill community to Flora (Gaugh) Epperson and Edd Epperson. Due to her mother’s illness, she was raised by her uncle, Beamon Epperson and wife, Velma (Tootsie) Daggett Epperson. Charlotte graduated from high school at Hartman in 1954 and moved to Orange, California for seven months. She left Orange and went to Kansas City, Kansas and married her husband, Jay on November 10, 1955. They lived in Kansas City for 5 years, then moved back to Orange, California where they lived and worked for 29 years. They left Orange in 1989 and returned to Hartman, Arkansas to enjoy their retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Baskin, of 49.8 years, two brothers, Leroy Epperson of Wichita Kansas and Everett (Bud) Epperson of Wichita, Kansas. She was also preceded in death by her special friend and companion, Tom Fowler, of Hartman.

She is survived by two brothers, Fred and wife Bertha Epperson of Marion, Kansas and Jimmy and wife Maria Balentine of Sturgis, South Dakota; three sisters, Dottie and husband Doug Hoyt of Ash Fork, Arizona, Brenda and husband John Holloway of Orange, California and Carolyn Balentine Simpson and husband, Don, of Sandy, Oregon and a very special friend and niece, Beverly Schaffer and husband, Johnny of Lakeside, California. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of West Park Baptist Church in Ozark, pastored by Brother Troy Vaughn that she attended for many years. She was blessed with a loving church family and loving care givers, Jimmy Dorney and wife, Glenda and Carolyn Griffin.

Charlotte loved to tell good stories and make people laugh and there was no telling what she would say or where she would say it.

The body was cremated. A graveside celebration of life will be held at the Harmony Cemetery in the Harmony Community on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Troy Vaughn officiating.
