*Obituary

Susie Beatrice Doke, 86, of Yukon, OK, went to be with her Lord on Feb. 25, 2015. Susie passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side at her home in Yukon, OK. Susie was born on September 5, 1928 in Wetumka, OK, the youngest child of Cora and Elmer Jenkins.

She grew up the child of a farmer, surrounded by her brother, sisters, and loving parents. While in high school she met the love of her life, Dewey Thomas Doke, and waited patiently for him to come home from the war so they could begin their life together. She always told the story that she knew he was "the one" when he offered her his only gloves on a cold winters ride to the movies in town in the back of a pickup truck. She thought he was the kindest and cutest boy she had ever met. Until his death in July of 1997, and through 50 years of marriage, he was her one and only true love.

After his death, she came to Yukon where she has lived the last 17 years. She made many friends here and loved to tell stories of her life with Dewey and their children. Whether you knew her for a few minutes or a few years, you knew that she was as much in love with Dewey as the day they married. She never tired of talking about him. She was a shining example to her children of faith, kindness, true love, and devotion. Susie was a wonderful wife and mother to their three children. She particularly relished her role as Grammie to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and provided them with many wonderful stories and memories. She loved taking care of their home and cooking for Dewey. She was "famous" within her family for her delicious meals and those tasty homemade hot rolls. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren unconditionally, each and everyone. She always had an encouraging word and comforting shoulder for anyone who was troubled, and loved taking care of those she felt needed her. We will greatly miss the peace and comfort she was able to provide us and the outings to Chick-Fil-A, eating chicken nuggets and watching the kids play at the indoor playhouse.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dewey, her parents, and siblings. She is survived by her children, Donna Schoenfelder, and favorite son-in-law Larry (Buddy), Kathy Pyburn, widow of her other favorite son-in-law Bill, Larry Doke and favorite daughter-in-law Debbie; four grandchildren, Stephen Scott Bymun and wife Rebecca, Ashleigh Coats, Kristen Bymun Lund and husband Cody, and Matthew Doke and wife Stephanie. Great grandchildren include Hannah Katherine Scott, Madison Brooke Bymun, Sydni Michelle Coats, Sydney Rose Lund, William Jackson Coats, Cooper Scott Coats, Sarah Irene Doke, twins Elizabeth Rose and Rachel Avery Doke, and Thomas Evert Lund. Also Surviving are her many beloved nieces, whom she spoke with often.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4th, 2015, at Lone Pine Cemetery in Clarksville, AR., with burial beside the love of her life, Dewey Thomas Doke.
