September 3, 1943 - January 11, 2020
Phyllis Laverne Haire, 76, died January 11, 2020 in Fayetteville. She was born September 3, 1943, in St. Paul to Henry Clay “Toby” and Walcie Tuttle Ahart.
Phyllis grew up in Arkansas, Washington, and California. In 1979, she packed up her three boys and moved to St. Paul, where she operated Ahart’s Gas and Grocery until shortly before her death. She also drove a St. Paul school bus for 33 years, as well as serving on the St. Paul City Council for 28 years. She loved her family deeply and was the most kind and tender-hearted person that one could ever meet. She will be greatly missed and remembered lovingly by her family and by the community.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Gary Ahart and Terry Ahart. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff (Charlotte) Haire of Combs; Ronnie (Lea) Haire of Panama City, Florida; and Layne (Carrie) Haire of St. Paul; seven grandchildren, Courtney Starnes, Kendall (Hollie) Haire, Alvin Haire, Melanie Haire, Melissa Haire, Seth Haire, and Laney Haire; and eight great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Emrey, Reagan, and Landrey Starnes, Blakeley and Harper Haire, and Isaac and Penelope Solum; and one nephew Eric Ahart.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 16; with Pat Mannon officiating. Pallbearers will be Kendall Haire, Seth Haire, Alvin Haire, Eric Ahart, David Riddle, and Chad Brown. Interment will immediately follow services at Brashears Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Phyllis' name to Brashears Cemetery, Jo Wheeler, 207 Hwy 295, Wesley, AR 72773; or Paws and Claws Pet Shelter, PO Box 364, Huntsville, AR 72740. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
