Stephen E. Williams Sr., 83, of Knoxville died in his home on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. He was the son of the late Basil D. and Mattie L. Blanks Williams of Central City, Ky. He was a retired Army veteran and served in World War II, Korea and the Vietnam War. He retired from Peabody Coal Co. in the position of heavy maintenance supervisor West Surface Division. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Jane.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Elizabeth; three sons, Jerry Williams of Dana, Ind., Stephen E. (Sharon) Williams Jr. of Hagarville; Benjamin (Janet) Williams of Knoxville, AR; two daughters, Dorothy McCuin of Russellville, Sara Jane (Keith) Stucky of Knoxville; and a sister, Helen A. Stirsman of Cincinnati; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements by Hardwicke Funeral Home, Clarksville, Arkansas.

Sara Elizabeth Hayes Williams, 84, of Knoxville, died Thursday, July 7, 2011.
She was a daughter of the late Monroe and Tula Josie Tolbert Hayes, widow of Stephen E. Williams Sr., member of First Baptist Church of Knoxville and Knoxville Extension Homemakers Club, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Martha Jane.
Survivors are three sons, Jerry Williams of Dana, Ind., Stephen E. Williams Jr. of Hagarville, and Ben Williams of Knoxville; two daughters, Dorothy McCuin of Russellville and Sara Jane Stucky of Knoxville; one brother, Bill Hayes of Temple, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at First Baptist Church in Knoxville with Rev. Richard Snyder officiating.
Burial was at Knoxville Cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Stephen Williams III, Michael Williams, Terry Skinner, Daniel Williams, Danny Shook, and Wayne McCartney.
